Blue Heron Golf Course was a semi-private golf course located in Okeechobee, Florida. Like many other small golf course facilities in the state, the Blue Heron Golf Course community has a collection of single-family golf homes surrounding its layout. These residential units do not belong to any village and are not under any Homeowners’ Association but are instead a collection of private homes that can be best described as an open community.
What makes the golf homes in the Blue Heron Golf Course community notable is the distance from one golf residence to another. Unlike so many planned communities where the houses are tightly packed shoulder-to shoulder with only a minimal area in between golf properties, homes in the Blue Heron community have an average spacing of nearly 50-feet between residences giving homeowners a real sense of privacy. There are also lots of open green spaces throughout the community and vacant lots available for those who prefer to design and build their own golf property.
There are more than 200 existing golf homes surrounding the Blue Heron Golf Course with varying sizes and an assortment of beautiful styles. These single-family golf homes have layouts of 2 to 4-bedrooms and 2 to 3-bathrooms with most also enjoying spacious yards. Lot sizes are an average of 2,900-square feet while the price of re-sale golf houses is approximately $189,000, which for many is a great deal considering these golf homes get to enjoy a wonderful ambiance thanks to the community’s former golf course and water views of Taylor Creek.
The Blue Heron Golf Course community also enjoys a prime location close to central Okeechobee. It is just three miles away from the Okeechobee County Airport and the rest of the city’s convenience are just a few minute-drive from the community. Lake Okeechobee is little more than a mile away and offers a host of outdoor activities for Blue Heron homeowners and their families.
