Calusa Lakes is located minutes from the I-75 highway in the historic town of Nokomis, Florida. It is nestled in wooded terrain and is a wonderful setting for a relaxed lifestyle surrounded by lush greenery. It is also a golf community that is designed to provide an active, healthy way of life to residents who want to live in a beautiful, safe and socially inclusive neighborhood.
Recognized as one of the best golf communities in all of Florida, Calusa Lakes’ approximately 550 detached single-family golf homes provide a quiet and relaxed setting for residents. The presence of century-old oak trees and pines gives a cool, shaded aspect to the surroundings, not to mention there are also numerous small lakes and ponds dotted throughout the community.
The centerpiece of the neighborhood is the Calusa Lakes Golf Club which features semi-private 18-hole, par 72 layouts designed by Ted McAnlis. It opened in 1991 but remains a first-class golf club with excellent fairways and greens up to this day. The golf course does a good job of taking advantage of the abundance of lakes in the community to challenge players' control, and so many players find that one of the best amenities of the club is its aqua driving range, which is something of a rarity among Florida golf courses.
Aside from the scenic views and peaceful ambiance, other amenities of this village is its comfortable clubhouse which serves as the social hub of the community, where golf homeowners can meet for drinks or a meal at the in-house restaurant. The clubhouse can also be used to hold events and private functions and boast impressive banquet facilities.
Calusa Lakes is a convenient place to live in, being near the I-75 and accessible to all services, shopping centers, restaurants, and the beautiful sandy beaches of Sarasota. The golf residences of the village are part of a deed-restricted community with an effective Homeowners’ Association, of which the golf home residents elect five homeowners as part of the Board of Directors to support the association’s goals, values, and responsibilities.
