Gainesville Country Club is a semi-private golf club located in Gainesville, Florida, just west of the Interstate 75 highway. The golf course is known for its breathtaking views, rolling layout, and beautiful golf homes. It has become a staple of Alachua County’s golfing scene with its steady number of patrons and club members. For more than a century now, Gainesville Country Club has reflected Florida’s warmth and inviting character with its members referring to it as a home away from home.
The golf course is sprawled across acres of grasslands and rolling hills while the residential units are strategically built surrounding the layout with some of the homes sitting directly on the golf course. These golf homes were primarily built in the 70s and the 80s, but many have been extensively renovated since the 2000s. The standard layouts of these golf houses are 2 to 4-bedrooms and 2 to 4-bathrooms with recent median prices at approximately $435,000.
The golf course community of the Gainesville Country Club has a private setting and there’s a voluntary Homeowners’ Association. The club’s 18-hole golf course originally designed by George Cobb in 1963 and later retouched by Mark McCumber in 1992. This wonderful amenity sprawls through the middle area of the neighborhood ensuring well-spaced homes and a semi-rural feel. The course and practice facilities offered by the Gainesville Country Club require club membership.
Other amenities available for residents of the community who join the club are the Olympic-sized swimming pool, six tennis courts, billiard tables, and the massive clubhouse. The clubhouse serves as the center for social functions happening in the community. There is also a restaurant inside the clubhouse where club members can enjoy food specialties and various cuisines. The facility can also be hired as a function venue complete with banquet and meeting facilities. These amenities support the active lifestyle that the Gainesville Country Club has always intended its members to have.
The Gainesville Country Club community is an ideal residential area with golf houses that are right on the golf course. For families with school-aged children the community is zoned for Idylwild Elementary, Kanapaha Middle, and Gainesville High Schools which are all located just a few miles away from the golf course. The community also has plenty of nearby shopping centers, tourist attractions, service shops, and health centers which further improves its livability.
