Monterey Yacht and Country Club are favorably situated at the heart of Stuart City at Florida's Treasure Coast, this cozy golf community overlooks the St. Lucie River. Offering a tropical paradise lifestyle complete with unlimited golfing and maintenance-free living, this well-established golf development is an age-restricted community. It caters to the 55 years and above who are pursuing an active life.
This gated country club started in the ‘70s in what used to be an overgrown field used as a horse corral. The development is made up of 51 2-storey condominium buildings consisting of 10 units per building. The units offered are either 1 to 2-bedroom units and have been upgraded with modern amenities. The HOA or condo fees are reasonable at mid-$400/month which includes the building insurance, cable TV, hot water, trash disposal, common area maintenance, golf, lawn care, recreation facilities, and reserve funds.
The pride and joy of this golf community is the private 9-hole executive golf course which winds its way around the 49 building complex and the main clubhouse. A narrow and tricky par 28 course, the length is 1,024 yards measured from the longest tees. The fairways are constricted with lakes and ponds strategically placed along the layout affecting 6 of the 9 holes. The greens are well-manicured Bermuda grass which puts an extra challenge on the putting. Considered a demanding but friendly course and playable for all skill levels. This executive golf course was designed by P.B. Dye and is highly regarded on the Treasure Coast.
The club also offers a practice area for driving, a pitching and chipping area, and a putting green with a pro available for instructions. A pro shop is also available along with rental services for clubs and carts.
Monterey Yacht and Country Club have 2 clubhouses that serve food and beverages. One is located near the golf course and an outdoor swimming pool. The other clubhouse is located at the waterfront where it features a dry dock for securing boats or casting a line to fish. The 2 clubhouses are also equipped with a fitness center, ballroom, library, woodworking shop, billiards, and 2 other multipurpose rooms which can serve as a venue for social events and activities.
Outdoors, aside from the executive golf course and swimming pool, residents can also enjoy the bocce ball and shuffleboard courts. Or enjoy the walking path that meanders around the scenic lakes and ponds including the fishing piers and a kayak launch along the St. Lucie River.
Monterey Yacht and Country Club are conveniently located near supermarkets like Publix, Winn-Dixie, and Target. Healthcare providers such as Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital, St. Lucie Medical Center, and Florida Medical Center along with pharmacies like Walgreens and CVS are also nearby.
For entertainment and dining, driving along U.S. Route 1 presents a lot of options. Other attractions include Stuart Heritage Museums, Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center, Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens, etc. Nature lovers have plenty of parks and beautiful beaches to choose from all located within a few minutes' driving distances.
Overall, this golf community is a perfect place that offers multiple recreation, social opportunities, travel possibilities, and maintenance-free living at an affordable price.
