The Riviera Country Club in Coral Gables, Miami, Florida, is one of the most private golf communities in the city. Close to the University of Miami, this gated golf community is surrounded by a number of golf homes, being primarily single-family homes. Golf houses in Riviera also have access to beautiful backyards affording most residents magnificent views of the golf course from their own porch.
One element making the Riviera Country Club stand out from the rest is a sense of peace and calm, often created by luxuriant trees and bushes located around elegant homes and creating beautiful streetscapes. Imagine jogging along with one of these quiet streets while watching the sunrise pop over the horizon. As serene as the setting may be, Riviera's convenient location provides residents the option of taking a short drive to the closest bars and restaurants in the city of Coral Gables to meet with friends and enjoy a night out.
For residents who have children at home, Riviera Country Club is also a perfect location for families with a number of schools and universities nearby. Aside from Miami University, schools such as Coral Gables Preparatory Academy and St. Theresa Catholic School are a short drive from Riviera. The Country Club is also near the best hospitals in the city, such as Doctor's Hospital or Coral Gables Hospital.
Riviera Country Club in Coral Gables suits most golfers seeking to play privately. The golf course offers an 18-hole layout with a distance of 6511-yards. This Par 71 golf course is an excellent choice for pro-golfers training for competition or even first-timers just trying the game. In addition to golf, the Course also hosts tennis matches with eight spacious courts available for residents.
Surprisingly, even just in Florida, ‘Riviera' is a popular name and used by two other golf courses or country clubs in Naples and Ormond Beach. Although each has its own distinctive characteristics, the Riviera Country Club in Coral Gables has the richest history. In 1924, the golf course was first designed by the renowned architect Donald Ross. The Country Club was created after the Coral Gables community was established in 1922. City developer George Merrick aimed to create a ‘City Beautiful' in Florida aiming to satisfy the needs of wealthy and elite residents.
Merrick's initial plan included two 9-hole and three 18-hole golf courses, although only two 18-hole courses were built. The Riviera is located in the Southern part of Coral Gables, while the Biltmore Golf Course is in the Northern region. Another nearby golf course in the area is the 9-hole Granada Golf Course with its neighboring Coral Gables Country Club. The Riviera Country Club places a high value on privacy for members, with very little information available from public sources.
