Salamander Bay

Foreshore Drive, Salamander Bay, Port Stephens, NSW, Australia

Salamander Bay is a suburb of the Port Stephens area in the Hunter Region of New South Wales and is named after the adjacent shallow bay, itself named after Salamander, a convict ship from the Third Fleet, which was the first European vessel to enter Port Stephenson 1791. It is a mainly residential suburb and seaside community ideally located just five minutes from Nelson Bay and is home to a regional shopping center, Tomaree High School, a TAFE facility, and the Port Stephens' Campus of St. Phillips Christian College.

Along with a variety of golf homes for sale, Salamander Bay has some great holiday rental accommodation including waterfront houses and apartments as well as a range of golf homes. Salamander Bay primarily has properties ranging from one to four bedrooms accommodating up to 10 guests. Based at Salamander Bay you are not far from all of Port Stephens attractions but are away from the crowds. The Tomaree Aquatic Centre with two pools and a waterslide, Toboggan Hill Park with its toboggan run, indoor rock climbing and an iceless ice rink, plus beaches, cafes, restaurants, and other eateries are just some of the many leisure and recreation activities available to residents and visitors to Salamander Bay.

However, for those looking for a great lifestyle combining an idyllic location with plenty of opportunities for golf then Salamander Bay is a perfect choice. The 27-hole Nelson Bay Golf Club and Salamander Bay's own award-winning Horizons Golf Resort are both close by. Horizons Golf Resort was designed by the internationally acclaimed Australian team of Ross Watson and Graham Marsh. The course was created from swampland with absolute dedication to a challenging design utilizing nature's countless offerings. The manicured bentgrass greens are rated with the best in the country and the championship layout features expansive lakes and undulating fairways, all surrounded by natural bushland and an abundance of wildlife.

The Hunter Region also offers over ten extra golf courses within less than an hour's drive including Pacific Dunes Golf Club, Newcastle Golf Club, Muree Golf Club, Maitland Golf Club, Merewether Golf Club, Cypress Lakes Golf Club, and The Vintage, or take a ferry to Hawks Nest Golf Club. You can easily fill a few days or weeks with golf at quality courses. Allow some free time to explore Port Stephens and rest assured that non-golfers will have plenty to do. In addition to great golf, Port Stephens also offers boutique shopping, wineries and a brewery, whale and dolphin cruises, 4WD tours on the Stockton Bight Sand Dunes, National Park walks and lookouts, and 26 golden sandy beaches.
