Sunrise Golf Club used to be more widely known because the golf course was so popular among Sarasota golfers due to its cheap rates and decent layout. The golf club slowly faded into obscurity after closing in 2005, however, the five subdivisions making up the Sunrise Golf Club community are still active and golf homes in this area are still in high demand despite the inactivity of the golf course.
The five subdivisions around the former course are mostly ranch-style homes that were built back in the 70s and 80s. However, some of these golf properties have lately been either renovated or redesigned to appeal to modern buyers. Golf homes in this neighborhood sell quickly because of the area’s affordable median price and the great community characteristics.
Other golf properties in this area include attached condominium units that are available for rent or lease. There are also large golf villas and apartment units. Many of the community’s homes have Mediterranean design features and offer amenities like swimming pools and tennis courts.
The former golf course was an 18-hole, par 72 layouts designed by Roy Albert Anderson, but although the golf course stopped operating in 2005, this did not stop the golf community from thriving. The empty golf course instead remained as the scenic backdrop for the golf homes in the area.
The numerous hiking trails and nature parks nearby also help attract potential homebuyers in this area. The Sunrise Golf Club community is near tourist attractions like Siesta Key, Livingston Amusement Center, and Twin Lakes Park. It is also near commercial districts and the downtown area.
At the Sunrise Golf Club community, there are several hundred existing golf residences, with more on the way, and even though it no longer has an active golf club, golf enthusiasts do not find it an issue since there are several excellent Sarasota golf courses a few minutes away. For those looking for a golf community near downtown Sarasota, Sunrise Golf Club is a great choice given its neighborhood character. It provides a suburban feel but has a wonderful sense of tranquility thanks to the abundant green spaces that are the fortunate legacy of the former Sunrise Golf Club.
