Chic Adams

Charles 'Chic' Adams was a respected veteran golfer and one of the most meticulous golf course architects of his generation. He was born on Dec. 9, 1923, and died on Dec. 8, 2007, at his home in North Myrtle Beach in South Carolina, formerly known as Sioux City.

A native of Aberdeen, Scotland, Adams came from a popular family of golfers and his father was late Iowa's Siouxland "Greater Architect Association" Hall of Famer, Bill Adams. The older Adams was also a former golf professional of the Sioux City Boat Club and Elmwood Golf Course.

Chic Adams went to Morningside College and Oklahoma Baptist University. He also majored in agronomy at Nebraska University and Iowa State College. Following in the footsteps of his late father, he also took an interest in golf and managed to become a golf professional and a superintendent at the Sioux City Country Club for several years.

For over six decades, was a member of the Professional Golf Association, and his skills and talents in constructing golf courses also allowed Adams to continuously flourish in the industry. He designed over 100 layouts throughout the United States and even overseas. Some of his famous routines are Monroe Golf and Country Club in Georgia, Diamond Hill Golf and Country Club in Florida, The Links at Fox Meadows in Tennessee, Heron Lakes Country Club in Alabama, and the Seminole Lake Country Club in Florida.
