Harley Kruse

With Bachelor's Degrees in both Landscape Architecture and Horticulture, Harley began his career in the golf course design industry with Melbourne-based firm Thomson Wolveridge & Perrett, headed by five-times Open Champion Peter Thomson. His nine years there saw him involved in numerous Australian and Asian projects before heading to China to oversee two golf course construction projects.

Harley's return to Australia in 2000 began a 10-year period with Greg Norman's design office in Sydney, where he primarily looked after their Asian projects. With the 2009 departure of Bob Harrison, Harley Kruse took over the role of head designer with the Australian office of Greg Norman Golf Course Design

He was the lead designer on courses such as the Greg Norman Course at Mission Hills in China, Jade Palace in South Korea, and the Dunes course at Danang Golf Club, Vietnam. These courses are a testament to Harley's design skills and his experience working in various cultures. Back in Australia, he was the lead architect on the successful development of Settlers Run, which broke new environmental grounds for golf and real estate development in Australia. When Norman closed down his Australian operations in mid-2010 Kruse left the company.

Toward the end of 2010, Kruse formed a partnership with his former boss, Bob Harrison. Together the new Harrison and Kruse Golf Design business aimed to service the Asia Pacific region by offering clients the experience and skills of Norman's former design team, without the signature fee. Owing partly to the downturn in China and the lack of opportunities for the new business, Bob Harrison and Harley Kruse parted ways in 2016.

Kruse now operates under his own design banner, Harley Kruse Design. Harley has a deep understanding of environmental issues in design and development and is at the forefront of pioneering solutions in golf course construction.
