Jan Bel Jan
Jan Bel Jan began her design career with Tom Fazio with whom she held a senior position in golf course design, construction, and project management for more than twenty years. Her experience as a registered Landscape Architect, Certified Arborist, and former assistant superintendent, provides her with a unique outlook on the playability, strategy, ecology, economics, and aesthetics of golf courses.
Ms. Bel Jan was elected to the American Society of Golf Course Architects in 1990 and has served both as Treasurer on the ASGCA Executive Committee and President. She represents the ASGCA as a board member of the National Alliance for Accessible Golf.
Jan formed her golf course design firm in 2009. She is a long-time contributor to the multiple disciplines of golf. Ms. Bel Jan has presented customized programs to PGA of America, CMAA, and GCSAA members. Topics include “Setting Up Golf Courses for Success”, how to retain and engage more women in golf, environmental sustainability, and inclusion of people with disabilities in golf.
The USGA featured Jan in its 2017-2018 Golf Museum exhibit, “Breaking New Ground – Women and Golf Course Architecture”. In 2014 and 2016 Jan earned the American Society of Golf Course Architects' Design Excellence Award and LINKS Magazine named Jan as one of The Top 10 Female Golf Course Architects in both 2014 and 2015.
