Jim Colbert
Jim Colbert is a professional golfer, golf course designer, golf analyst, and businessman. He was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and attended Kansas State University where he finished in 2nd place in the 1964 NCAA golf championships. Later on. Jim moved to become a professional golfer and as a pro, he won 8 times on the PGA Tour including twice in 1983. He was even more successful as a senior pro and has won a total of 20 tournaments on the Champions Tour. He has since worked as a golf analyst for ESPN in his post-professional golfing years and also owns a golf management company. Colbert was inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in 1998.
In 1982, James Joseph Colbert graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and later on developed his skills to work as a layout artist, graphic designer, art director, illustrator, and copywriter for agencies and studios in the area of Central Pennsylvania. He also won awards and received citations for his art and design work then further expanded his network and connections aside from the world of golf. He is now a graphic design teacher and still accepts design projects for musical artists, festivals, arts organizations, publishing companies, and performing arts venues.
Colbert is credited with helping to design a total of 9 golf courses around the US. Some of his work includes the Las Vegas Golf Club, Crescent Oaks Country Club, and Colbert Hills just to name a few. Jim Colbert's designs are notable for having the personalized touch as Jim is known to be hands-on in all of his course design projects.
