Richard Chamberlain

Richard Chamberlain has lived and breathed golf from a very young age. Brisbane born and raised was first introduced to golf by innocently chipping in the backyard at an early age with his dad. That's when the bug took hold and saw his ability to develop to the point where he maintained a single-figure handicap for many years.

In 1983 he commenced his cadetship with the Queensland Department of Mines, in conjunction with studies in cartography. Those early drafting, presentation, and graphics skills provided the solid starting point from where he was able to launch his career in the golf course design business in 1988 with the internationally acclaimed Marsh Watson Pty Ltd.

Always the innovators, Ross Watson, and Graham Marsh led the course design industry into the exciting use of computer-aided design (CAD) and it was Richard who they tasked with "making it happen." This Richard did so ably that the company's technical planning in creating new golf courses began to attract attention nationally, then globally.

By the mid-1990s Richard was leading the world in the area of computer involvement in golf course design and this resulted in him winning several awards for his groundbreaking imagery.

After a stint with Graham Marsh Golf Design through the 1990s, he again linked with Ross Watson in 2001 and their formidable expertise and strong understanding saw the company design many acclaimed courses throughout Australia and right across Asia.

In 2005 he was inducted as a member of the Australian Society of Golf Course Architects and in 2009 with over 20-years' experience under his belt, he launched his own design company, Richard Chamberlain Golf Design.
