The semi-private golf course at the American Golf Club at Vero Beach will challenge golfers of all levels. The tee boxes are all nicely elevated and provide excellent views of the fairways which are well-manicured and feature several strategically placed bunkers.
There are twenty-seven Arthur Hills designed holes at the club divided into three nine-hole routings that can be played in a variety of combinations. Some signature holes on the golf course include the 6th and 11th holes each of which has ponds on the fairway's and green's left sides. The most challenging par 3 of the American Golf Club at Vero Beach's layout is the 16th, with an island green and over 200-yards from tee box to pin, this hole is only playable for golfers with solid drives. Another signature hole of the course is the par 3 finishing hole which features another island green with water on both sides and in front of the pin location.
The facilities for players include a Pro Shop, restaurant, locker rooms with showers and saunas, and a driving range. The club also provides golf lessons to people who are new to the game or want to perfect their game.
The golf course at American Golf Club has been used for PGA tournaments, including the 1984 World Series of Golf Invitational that was won by Donnie Hammonds. The golf course has also been recognized with numerous awards, including Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play" and Florida's Best Course by the Orlando Sentinel. It was also ranked among America's Top 100 golf courses by Golfweek magazine in 2002.
