Ashgrove Golf Club is located in The Gap, an area less than 20 minutes from the Brisbane CBD. Set beneath the Taylor Range and benefiting from its rolling hillside and natural creeks, the course features a wide variety of challenges. Notably short at just under 5,000 meters, it is still a full 18 hole. Instead of the traditional front and back 9s, Ashgrove features a 10-and-8 formation.
Natural geography makes for most of Ashgrove's' personality and play. Elevated tees and greens are common. The bunkers vary in their depth, but their regularity and placement often see a wedge deployed. Ashgrove is a par 68 course with 7 par 3s, utilizing its smaller distance in cooperation with the valleys and undulation of the course. The 6th referred to as the 'postage stamp,' exemplifies this with its subtly tilted greens that run toward greenside bunkers.
Ashgrove Golf Club signature hole is its 3rd, a par 3 revolving around its large water carry mid-way across the fairway. Working uphill to a two-tiered green, there are multiple ways to play it with club selection a defining decision in making par.
The wide natural landscape opens up from multiple testbeds, displaying the matured and various native trees across the wide ranges. The clubhouse is a classic 'Queenslander' built on stumps, looking downhill across the course and toward Brisbane city.
