The Bonita Pass Executive Golf Course is one of the many 9-hole layouts of The Villages Executive Golf Trail in southwest Florida. Located in the innermost part of the giant 55+community, this par 27 routing runs adjacent to beautiful golf homes and is set in rich natural surroundings with water hazards throughout.
Measuring 1,407-yards from the longest tees, Bonita Pass is full of spectacular views, which was one of the main goals of architectural firm Clifton, Ezell and Clifton when the golf course first opened in 2009. The majority of the course’s holes provide elevated tee shots to the green, giving the golfer a slight advantage. The golf course flows much like a figure eight, as players must travel across the same bridge twice heading to the fourth and eighth holes.
Everyone is offered the chance to get off to a good start on the first hole, as it is the shortest of the layout with fewer obstacles and has even been known to give up that elusive hole-in-one. Although it sounds easy, players should not be over-confident or careless when teeing off as there are some difficult holes at Bonita Pass, even for experienced golfers.
Open year-round to residents of The Villages, the private Bonita Pass Executive Golf Course doesn’t charge green or walking fees. Those who might find the layout challenging can take a break and join the club’s golf school academy for a fun, enjoyable golf lesson with the help of some of the highly-trained teaching professionals at Bonita Pass Executive Golf Course. If needed, the friendly staff of Bonita Pass also offers reasonably-priced rental services for both carts and clubs.

The residents of the Villages of Buttonwood and Tamarind Grove live in comfortable, mid to large-sized golf properties, with living areas ranging from 1,100-square feet to over 2,200-square feet. Almost every golf house has an expansive front and backyard, as well as a wide driveway and generously sized garage. The golf villas enjoy equally attractive, if slightly more modestly proportioned landscaping.
Most golf homes in the community have exteriors finished in neutral colors. On the inside, residents have plenty of space with open two and three-bedroom floor plans. Built from 2010 onwards, many resale golf homes at Buttonwood and Tamarind Grove have benefitted from recent updates to their interior stylings.
For golf enthusiast, the Southern Star Executive Golf Course is the closest of several, while the Jacaranda championship course, originating from the Cane Garden Country Club, wanders through the neighborhood as well. Alternatively, the Sterling Heights Village Recreation Center and the Seabreeze Regional Recreation Center offer plenty of other indoor and outdoor activities for those who like to stay active.
