Home to the PGA Tour Champions Season Opener for thirteen consecutive years (2007-2019), the Old Course at Broken Sound Club is a classic secluded golfer's sanctuary. The layout has many challenging holes, tricky fast greens, and lots of water to contend with making it one of the most challenging courses in South Florida.
Designed by Joe Lee in 1978, the par 72 Old Course is one of the few stand-alone layouts in the area and so does not wind through housing areas. Reminiscent of courses in the Pinehurst, North Carolina area, this renowned course runs through a picturesque setting of woods, stone bridges, wildlife, lakes, and lagoons.
The 6,906-yard routing, with its varied elevation and seventy-five bunkers, was renovated in 2003 by Gene Bates and Matt Swanson and continues to fulfill the needs of even the most diehard golfer. Although it has very small undulations compared to most clubs around, the greens have been voted the best on the Champions Tour by officials and players on at least thirteen occasions.
With multiple bars and dining venues as well as catering, Broken Sound's large and elegant clubhouse offers a wide choice of culinary experiences.
