Calliope Country Club is located approximately 20-minutes inland from Gladstone on Queensland's tropical coastline is the Calliope Country Club. This interesting walk or cart layout is open to the public and the quiet surroundings make for a great golfing option in the Gladstone Region.

Calliope's 6,053-metre long par 72 track is the only 18-hole course in the region other than the course at Gladstone and has the most water in play. Leixlip Creek winds itself through the course and several other hazards can swallow loose shots.

Highlights on the front nine include the 131-meter par 3 5th which plays over the water toward an elevated green and the 6th hole which is a monster 549-meter par 5. This can be a daunting hole not only for players but for motorists as well. With a blind bending fairway, golfers will tee off over the road and any right-hand slice will likely threaten the road or the water hazard that follows the fairway all the way to the green.

The back nine features the shortest par 5 of the layout at only 425-meters, but with a few tricky bunkers and water to avoid it makes for a very challenging hole off the tee. The hardest hole on the course is the 382-meter par 4 finishing hole. This is a great finishing hole and rewards an accurate tee shot with the right dogleg and water to carry on your approach to the elevated final green. The overall presentation of this course is good with well-manicured greens and surroundings although the fairways can struggle a little in the drier months.

Golfers will find all the standard warm-up and practice areas that they would expect to find along with a pro shop. There is also a lawn bowling green and the clubhouse offers a bar and restaurant which, along with the club itself, is very family and children friendly.
