Just two hours north of Melbourne and located on the banks of the gently flowing Goulburn River is the private Cathedral Lodge and Golf Club. Situated close to Alexandra in the Shire of Murrindindi, this magnificent 18-hole golf course which has been carved out of natural canyon land and gorges displays a vast array of beautiful colors and features numerous intersecting creeks and waterways.

The course was designed by Greg Norman, who remarked "The Cathedral Lodge property is unique in that it's a canyon shape with a ridge running through the middle of it, where you go up the ridge on one side of the valley and back down it on the other side of the valley. The topography of the land was so magical to work with and the wildlife on the property is simply amazing. We let the kangaroos and wombats just roam free."

Cathedral Lodge is said to rival the highly exclusive Ellerston layout, also designed and built under the direction of Norman, which along with Augusta National was the inspiration for owner David Evans's decision to build Cathedral Lodge. Opened only recently in 2017 the par 72 course differs from that of Ellerston in that it is intended to be challenging but not brutal.

The course makes good use of the natural variations in the elevation of the terrain and the generous fairways are cleverly shaped to direct the ball to certain areas, while the numerous creek crossings add additional layers of complexity. Once on the greens players will find the putting surfaces fast and true and free of superfluous bunkering.

Members and their guests will find practice facilities and a modern clubhouse at Cathedral Lodge which it's hoped will become a tournament venue in the future.
