Re-designed by Gordon G. Lewis in 2003, the championship layout is an 18-hole course stretching to a maximum of 7,375 yards for a total of par-72. This golf course is versatile enough, with its 5 sets of tees proving that it can be enjoyable for golf newbies and experts alike. This golf club opened in 1936 and is notable for its rich history in Florida and Texas. It was the first golf club in the Texas area to host the US Open in 1944.
Holes numbers 3 to 5 are collectively nicknamed "Horrible Horseshoe" and are memorable for being the longest stretch in the course. It has a challenging 247-yard par-3 for its 4th hole, sandwiched by demanding par-4s in holes #3 and #5.
Colonial Country Club is known for having the most complete practice facilities in all of Florida. It has a driving range, a large putting green, and a specialized short game area perfect for practicing putting or chipping shots. It also has a practice bunker and a separate practice hole to round out its set of practice facilities. No wonder its golf school academy produces a lot of skilled golf players.
Its Golf Shop is honored to be on the Association of Golf Merchandisers' list of the Top 100 in the World. It features today's top brands for ladies and men, including Greg Norman, Under Armour, Adidas, EP Pro, and Jamie Sadock. The newest clubs from Callaway and more can be found in the shop, as well as demo clubs for use on the range or during a round on the course.
