Gulf Stream Golf Club is a private invitation-only golf club established in 1924 by a group of Palm Beach residents, all of whom were close friends and dedicated to the game of golf and its traditions. Under the direction of this innovative group and with a zeal for the game of golf, Gulf Stream was made, a magnificent golf course built by Donald Ross, and a beautiful Addison Mizner clubhouse constructed.

In 1958, the 18-hole layout had some revisions to the bunkering by Dick Wilson, with Mark Mahannah, Sr., and Joe Lee redesigning the golf course in 1960. More recently, in 2014, the club commissioned Pete Dye and Alice Dye, who lives just a few minutes away from Gulf Stream Golf Club, to renovate the course.

Their work included improving the drainage, new tee boxes, bunkers, and re-countering the greens, most of which Pete Dye deemed unplayable. Additionally, a line of Seagrape shrubs flanking the 18th fairway was removed, opening up expansive ocean views. As a result of the renovation, the 18-hole Gulf Stream Club now measures 7,100-yards from the tips, making it some 300-yards longer than the previous layout. The forward tees measure a more leisurely 5,000-yards.

To this day, Golf Stream prides itself on maintaining the traditions on which the club was founded and building upon its legacy. Gulf Stream Golf Club includes a driving range, pitching, chipping area, and putting green. Before or after a round of golf, golfers can relax in the elegant clubhouse, where they can enjoy the full-service bar and restaurant.

Gulf Stream Golf Club

Gulf Stream, a town in Palm Beach County, was founded in 1925 by Bessemer Properties as a planned golf community beside Golf Stream Golf Club, which was itself established in 1924. The Town and the golf club took their name from the Florida Coast's Gulf Stream current.
Over the decades, the Town of Gulf Stream continued to grow while still adhering to the original Phipps vision of providing a place where residents and visitors can enjoy understated, yet elegant living. The old “cottages” of post-World War II were replaced by larger golf estate homes that showed the changing tastes and lifestyles of the area's golf home residents.
Today, the Gulf Stream Golf Club neighborhood has approximately 1,000 residents with a median age of 58. The community has approximately 525 golf housing units, the majority of which were designed by renowned Palm Beach architects, including Maurice Fatio, John Volk, and Howard Major. Several of the community's original golf homes still exist and have not changed their appearance from the 1920s.
