The Heritage Isles Golf and Country Club feature an 18-hole championship golf course that’s a proven test for even the advanced golfer. From the Gold tees this par 72 layout is possibly the most challenging in Tampa, says Rick Bradshaw, General Manager and two times PGA Section Teacher of the Year.
Heritage Isles’ five sets of tees make this golf course very fair for beginners, challenging for experienced players, and fun for everyone. Regardless of a golfer’s length off the tee or ability level, the short game will always play an important role in scoring well at Heritage Isles. Players are advised to manage their approach shots carefully, while the large, well-maintained greens will reward those golfers who putt well.
Measuring 6,976 yards from the longest tees, the course’s first hole gives golfers a good feeling for what they’re going to face, starting with a tricky dogleg left par 4. This isn’t targeted golf, and there are generous landing areas on all the holes, but if players miss those landing areas, especially from the tees, there’s a good chance they’ll end up in a wetland area or water hazard. Water comes into play on this golf course on almost every hole so players must manage their shots well.
According to Jed Azinger, one of the designers of the course, along with Gordon G. Lewis, the par 4 No. 3, “… is one of the top five holes I’ve ever worked on.” The third hole’s fairway swings back toward the clubhouse and provides golfers with a beautiful view and there’s a slight dogleg left around a grandfather oak tree that can prove a real obstacle if the ball leans left. Besides watching out for the giant oak, players also need to be careful of the wetlands that guard the entire right front of the green.
Although the difficulty level of the Heritage Isles Golf and Country Club golf course is quite high, there are plenty of practice facilities where golfers can work on their game, including a driving range, putting green, and pitching green. Golf professionals can also help new players with the basics.
After a round, golfers can always visit the clubhouse and have a drink or something to eat at the Heritage Isles Golf and Country Club’s comfortable bar and restaurant. Private events can also be hosted inside the clubhouse’s function space, which can accommodate several hundred guests.
