Inverness Golf and Country Club has long been known as one of Citrus County's premier golf courses. The par 72 layout offers five sets of tees that range from 6,194-yards to 4,380-yards, with water coming into play on seven of the course's 18-holes. The greens are Champion Bermuda grass that is fast and sloping.

The Inverness course features a fairly level layout and is rated 69.4 from the white tees and 71.3 from the reds. It is nestled in a setting of large oak trees, palms, pines, and cedars that can get those prone to hooking or slicing into trouble. Water hazards come significantly into play only on two holes on the front side, at eight and nine, and two on the back at fourteen and fifteen, although errant shots can find lateral hazards on several other holes.

The semi-private golf club, designed by Bill Campbell in 1960, offers many golf options for its players, including varying groups on a daily basis, as well as several annual tournaments. Two of the most popular and well-known are the Citrus County Senior open in February and the St. Patrick's Day tournament in March.

Located on the Nature Coast of Florida, south of the City of Inverness off U.S. Highway 41, the Inverness Golf and Country Club offers a clubhouse with a restaurant and lounge, a Pro-shop, swimming pool, lighted tennis courts, driving range, and practice putting green. There is also an excellent banquet facility used for various events, including weddings, family reunions, social gatherings, and business meetings.

The Inverness Golf and Country Club is a private golf course. However, it does allow public play with a scheduled tee time. The club also maintains a small roster and a no tee times policy. Members can tee up anytime they desire, except when there is organized play.
