Ironwood Golf Course at Gainesville is a municipal golf facility and small residential community located on the northern outskirts of Gainesville. The David Wallace creation was originally built in 1964 but was subsequently renovated in 2010 with course architect Mike Beebe and MacCurrach Golf Construction in charge of the project.
The residential area in the western part of the golf course consists of around 80 single-family golf houses, as well as several multi-level townhouses and ranch homes. There’s also the Lewis Place at Ironwood which is the lone apartment complex in the community. These golf homes have a median price of approximately $330,000 which many here consider a great deal considering there’s an 18-hole golf course and certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary right next door.
Ironwood Golf Course at Gainesville is just a few minutes away from the city’s commercial district. There are three top-rated public schools in its vicinity while the University of Florida is just a quick drive from the community.
