The Isis Golf Club, also known as Childers Golf Club, is, without doubt, one of the best 9-hole courses in Queensland. Situated just five minutes drive from the historic township of Childers, and 35-minutes drive from Bundaberg airport, the 5,556-metre par 70 (for men) and 71 (for women) course provides a true golfing experience.

Lush fairways lined with magnificent old trees, excellent greens and the odd bunker or two provide enough stimulation for even the most proficient golfer. Although there are only nine greens there are multiple tees allowing a full 18-holes to be played.

The real feature of this course is the overhanging trees which can crowd a player's tee shot. There might be plenty of room down the fairway but on numerous holes, it feels like your hitting off through a tunnel. The two giant figs on the last hole have swallowed many a ball in past rounds and certainly create a degree of tension when teeing off.

Available to the public this walking-only course is more challenging than it first appears. The ACR of 67 and the layout's relatively short length belies the difficulty of the course. Scratch golfers on a good day will have no troubleshooting sub-par rounds, but for the average golfer playing to a handicap will be an achievement.

The course and the clubhouse are cheap and cheerful with an emphasis on providing players with an inexpensive golfing opportunity that is reminiscent of simpler times. The Isis Golf Club offers players food and refreshments at the clubhouse bar.
