The 12-hole Laidley Golf Course was opened at its present site, a former dairy farm in Laidley Heights, Queensland, on the 5th of April 1951 by the golf enthusiasts of Laidley who were dissatisfied with the existing links on the local recreation reserve.

The new elevated location overlooks the town of Laidley and is bordered on its southern side by a large lake and bird sanctuary. A nine-hole layout measuring 3,316-yards with a par of 74 for the 18 tees was proposed for the new course, and as the land was timbered the course had to be quite literally hewn out of the property.

In 1977 the club decided to purchase 29-acres of adjoining land and in 1987 architect Ross Watson rebuilt three holes that had been affected by land resumption and course reconstruction was completed by 1991. In mid-1992 the club once again purchased adjoining land for further course expansion. Golf architect David Burrup designed a further nine holes and the land was cleared and the shaping of new fairways commenced.

In 2001 the club received a grant from a government Sport and Recreation Facilities Program and with this funding, three new holes were completed in 2002. Further development of the last six holes will be completed as funding becomes available. Open to the public this walk or cart course now plays to a par of 72 across the 18 tees and is 6,076-metres long.

The clubhouse has a bar and restaurant and can cater for events and functions. There is also a pro shop at the club for golfers who can also take advantage of the driving range attached to the course at Laidley.
