Longboat Key Club, Links on Longboat course is originally designed by William F. Mitchell through coastal terrain offering natural landscapes and numerous bodies of water. The par 71 layouts, formerly known as the Island Side at Longboat Key Club, were subsequently redesigned by Ron Garl in 2014 to achieve its current 4-star rating.
Measuring 6,748 yards from its longest tees this challenging links-style routing has a slope of 139 and a USGA rating of 74.9. And, best of all, Longboat Key Club is a golf resort which means anyone can come and play this well-maintained and challenging course.
The greens and fairways are always in great condition, and while the Links on Longboat’s sister Harborside Course utilizes Platinum Paspalum grass, Garl chose to stick to traditional Bermuda grass for the Links’ redesign. The small bodies of water scattered throughout the course act as the primary hazards and come into play on almost every hole.
Longboat Key Golf Club has complete training facilities including a driving range, pitching, and chipping area, and a putting green. The club also has a Pro shop and offers golf clinics as part of its golf academy program with pro golfers as trainers and instructors. The clubhouse has a restaurant, a fitness center, and a spa, and there are tennis courts as well. Longboat Key Club also boasts a beautiful marina to take advantage of its beautiful waterfront setting.
