The par 70 golf course first opened in 1921 and was originally designed by the famous Scottish golf architect Donald Ross. It was formerly the home of Gainesville Country Club before the university acquired the golf club to turn it into what it is today. It was named after Mark Bostick, the president of Comcar Industries and a known donor of the Florida Gators golf teams.
Mark Bostick Golf Course at UF has a maximum length of 6,701-yards with Bermuda grass fairways and greens. It was originally set at 6,200-yards but a further 500 were added to the layout during its renovation in 2001 under Bobby Weed and MacCurrach Golf Construction. The golf course ratings including its par were also re-rated. The entirety of the course is heavily lined with trees and there are 140 bunkers scattered throughout the layout.
The Mark Bostick Golf Course at UF has its own golf school and the private club provides golf lessons and instructions to those who are interested in learning golf. The practice facilities at the club such as the driving range, putting green, and chipping and pitching area also come in handy for regular players and new students of the game. Non-golf amenities such as the clubhouse, locker rooms, and diner are only available to club members who must be affiliated with the University.
