Located in Seminole County, the Mayfair Country Club of Florida offers 18-holes of tournament-quality golf, a practice range, a putting green, and a practice bunker. Many notable golf legends such as Arnold Palmer, Gene Sarazen, Moe Norman, and Sam Snead have all enjoyed playing the Mayfair layout

The club's history in the City of Sanford started in 1878 Henry Sanford sold a 20,000-acre tract of land to retired sea captain Charles Amory. Amory cleared much of the land and planted citrus trees, including the double row of oak trees that still line the main entrance of the golf course. He also created the ship-shaped house, which is still part of today's Mayfair clubhouse.

The property was later purchased by Sydney Octavius Chase and his brother Joshua Coffin Chase. In 1922, the brothers commissioned a 50-man crew to build a nine-hole golf course under the direction of Cameron Trent. After the nine holes were completed, The Sanford Country Club of Florida golf course opened for play.

The city of Sanford purchased the golf course in 1924 and hired W.D. Clark to redesign the existing nine-hole golf course and create an additional nine, creating a full 18-hole championship golf course. As one of the first golf courses built in Sanford, Mayfair has a long history of providing excitement to players who step onto the first tee box. The large oak trees, calm ponds, pristine greens, and lush fairways make every golfer feel secluded and relaxed in an oasis of golf.

Mayfair Country Club of Florida

Although best known for its world-class theme parks, such as Disney World and Universal Studios, the Orlando area is home to some of the best golf courses in Florida. Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest such clubs in the area, dating back to 1922, and is the gem in the crown of the Mayfair Country Club of Florida community. Many famous golfers played the Mayfair layout and it was the sight of Arnold Palmer’s first professional victory.

The City of Sanford’s Mayfair Country Club of Florida is a non-gated neighborhood that dates back to 1997. The community offers quick access to all points of interest in the Central Florida region via the 417 Expressway, as well as Highway 17 and Interstate 4. Mayfair is also just 10-minutes from Sanford Airport.

Mayfair predominantly features single-family colonial-style golf homes that are reasonably priced. Lot sizes generally range up to half an acre, and some golf properties also benefitting from a view of the golf course, natural preserves, or one of the numerous small lakes found throughout the area.
