Ranked among Central Florida’s best golf courses and previously voted Best Golf Course in Orlando, the public accessible MetroWest Golf Club, located at the heart of the MetroWest community and right beside Lake Hiawassee, is little more than 10-minutes away from downtown Orlando and just 30-minutes away from Orlando International Airport. Inaugurated in 1987, this award-winning, 18-hole signature golf course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. with the help of Roger Rulewich and was initially managed by Arnold Palmer Golf Management.
Suited to players of all skill levels and handicaps, the MetroWest Golf Club course is both pleasurable and demanding – requiring precise shots from tee to green. Even scratch golfers will find the course full of fresh challenges. Classic and traditional in style, the MetroWest Golf Club’s par 72 layout, which was revamped by Billy Fuller in 2013, features lakes and water hazards, rolling fairways with mature trees, dramatic elevation changes as well as large greens with well-positioned sand bunkers.
MetroWest Golf Club offers Junior Golf Lessons conducted by some of the best golf coaches in Central Florida. Classes are held in state-of-the-art, full range practice facilities that are well separated to avoid distractions on the main course. These practice facilities also include putting and chipping greens.
Awaiting players departing from the 18th green are two restaurants at the clubhouse. Westerly’s, the main dining venue on the top floor, looks out to picturesque Lake Hiawassee. On the ground floor are the Sundance Tavern, a sports bar, and a grill that serves breakfast sliders and all-day lunch. The menu is quite popular because of its homemade soups and salads as well as its sports-themed sandwiches.
The club has tennis courts available for those looking for more than just golf. There are also excellent meeting rooms available and the clubhouse staff can assist those looking to host private functions and events.
