Mission Valley Golf and Country Club are conveniently located in the center of Nokomis, Florida. This 18-hole routing is likened to many typical Florida golf courses and is lushly filled with giant oak trees and pines. A par 72 layout with a total length of 6,734 yards from the farthest tees, this private golf course was originally designed by David Wallace in 1967 but was subsequently redesigned by Ted McAnlis in 1997.
In the summer of 2018, the Mission Valley Golf and Country Club course underwent a major renovation and complete re-grassing. The entire course now features TifTuf Bermuda along the fairways, while the greens were resurfaced with TifEagle grass. The layout is not particularly difficult as a lot of the fairways are wide open, but the well-manicured fairways are lined with trees.
Along with the resurfacing and re-grassing work, the course’s lakes were all expanded during the 2018 renovation, and some landscape areas were added to the course to add more difficulty. Current bunkers are powered by the Better Billy Bunker System. All these add-ons in 2018 pushed the course out to a slope of 131 and a USGA rating of 73.1.
This Mission Valley Golf and Country Club is staffed with experienced golf professionals that can teach beginners the fundamentals as well as work with more experienced players to fine-tune their game. The club’s practice facilities include a putting green, driving range, chipping area, and practice bunkers. For the non-golfers, there are tennis courts available as well.
The clubhouse bar and restaurant serve cold drinks and complete meals making it the perfect spot to relax after a round. There’s also a Pro Shop and locker rooms for golfers, while the banquet facilities are an excellent venue for private functions and parties.
