Peppers Moonah Links Resort is located in prime Australian coastal bushland amidst an undulating landscape in the Mornington Peninsula, less than an hour and a half from Melbourne.
Dubbed his 'Leviathan' by course designer Peter Thomson, Moonah Links Open Course was Australia's first purpose-built championship course. It was set up specifically to host the Australian Open National Championships along with several other Australian Golf Union Championships and combines two fantastic layouts.
The par 72, Open Course, measures 6,783-metres, so it offers more than a casual stroll or cart ride in the outdoors. It is a mighty and ferocious test of golfing ability, the likes of which even the top pros only occasionally experience.
The Moonah Links Open Course is 18 holes of the links-style Legends Course were laid out by Thomson Perrett with aim of creating a classic course, open to the public, that would also be a fantastic championship test of golf. It is one of the more challenging courses he created and he stated that it is "extremely tough, but it has flexibility".
Thomson Perrett developed the course in a similar fashion to that of St Andrews; smaller bunkers are set as 'minefields to be avoided throughout the course, causing the golfer to be considered in their approach to the hole and unable to just play a drive straight down every fairway without caution.
Other facilities include an outdoor solar heated swimming pool, on-site gymnasium, day spa, golf shop, practice putting green, and driving range. The Resort also offers numerous dining and leisure options with event hosting and catering available.
