This golfing Eden is situated at Kewarra Beach. Once merely acres of sugar cane fields, it's just a 20-minutes drive from the center of Cairns.
Presented beautifully with lush vegetation alongside well-manicured rolling fairways this par 71 championship layout is punctuated by man-made lakes. Paradise Palms Golf Course and Resort makes creative use of its 94-bunkers and the several creeks that weave their way down from the North Queensland escarpment.
The former design team of Graham Marsh and Ross Watson created this tropical gem when they were commissioned to create Australia's most difficult tournament venue. The duo successfully fulfilled the brief.
To celebrate its opening, Paradise Palms Golf Course and Resort hosted a memorable Skins Game, which pitted Japanese legend Isao Aoki against then world number one Greg Norman, Bernhard Langer, and two-time US Open champion Curtis Strange.
Aoki and Strange grabbed most of the honors and most of the cash. And so, Paradise Palms' reputation as a challenging test of golf was born. Since then this 18 hole, walk, or cart rainforest joy has been open to the public.
The attached Paradise Palms Resort offers golfers various leisure activities as well as bar and dining options. Luxury accommodation and multiple catered function facilities are also available.
