Designed by Ron Garl in 1987, Pine Oaks of Ocala Golf Course is a city-owned course that measures 6,533-yards from the longest tee. It offers affordable prices and available tee times with a family feel and friendly staff welcoming players.
The course layout and conditions are kept to a high standard, and it runs through beautiful towering pines and majestic oaks, along with abundant lakes and ponds. It is usually easy to get a tee time at the course, and golfers can play at a relaxed pace.
Pine Oaks of Ocala Golf Course has a definite “old Florida” feel with most holes being pretty straight, so shaped shots don’t come into play a lot. Water, however, comes into play on most holes and golfers can expect to complete their round in about 3.5-hours. Golfers enjoy the undulation of the fairways, the challenge of going uphill on one of the par 5s, and some memorable holes on the front nine.
Amenities include a Pro shop area with locker rooms for players to change. The club also has a driving range, putting green, pitching and chipping area, golf school academy, clubhouse bar, restaurant, meeting facilities, and banquet facilities.
Unfortunately, Pine Oaks of Ocala Golf Course is currently closed.

The 27-hole golf course at Pine Oaks of Ocala closed in April 2019, but developers are preparing an exciting new residential development that will take its place. Once complete, the golf community will have 1,000 golf homes, including single family homes, apartments, and townhomes.
Plans for the new development at Pine Oaks of Ocala are for more than 217-acres between Northwest 21st Street and Northwest 35th Street. These golf properties will be affordable single family homes and affordable rental apartments featuring modest one to three-bedroom floorplans.
Construction started in 2021 and will be completed in four phases, stretching into late 2027. The first phase will include renovating the existing clubhouse with a new fitness center, swimming pool, and a splash pad. Future residents of Pine Oaks of Ocala will reside in a community close to daily conveniences and excellent amenities in an affordable town with plenty of economic development opportunities. Ocala is also recognized as one of the best and safest places to live and retire in the country.
