Rolling Green Golf Club was an 18-hole public golf course in Sarasota, Florida. This course was arguably the friendliest in Florida, as it suits players of all different skill levels. The championship layout was an easy run-through course, but some holes are tricky, needing strategy and the right approach. Unfortunately, this golf course closed in April 2021.
The golf course stretched as far as 6440 yards on its edges with a slope of 120 and a 69.9 USGA rating. Playing this course from the front tees is much shorter, measuring up to 5000 yards. Rolling Green Golf Club was designed by Roy Albert Anderson, and the golf club staff respected the design by keeping the greens smooth and the Bermuda grass fairways well-manicured.
Rolling Green Golf Club was a golf course that came with basic practice facilities. It also had a resident pro to help teach and assist clients and customers when they visited the golf club. People used to visit this golf course and just used the practice facilities without having to play a full round of golf. As a public course, many people came to spend an hour or two simply refining their swing at the expansive driving range or honing their putting skills on the meticulously maintained greens.
Rolling Green’s clubhouse was where golfers and bystanders hung out. It had a restaurant, separate bar, and grill where people could order food and drinks. The bar was a favorite hangout place for golfers who loved to have a few beers after playing golf.
Editor's note: The golf course is already closed.
