Royal Fremantle Golf Club, a private members course, was established in 1905 and is one of the few golf clubs that still occupies its original site. The club is situated on Western Australia's warm and sunny coastline and is located just south of Perth in the port city of Fremantle.

The 18-hole layout at Royal Fremantle, at 6,175-metres, is not long by modern standards and plans are in place to lengthen some tees as part of regular course maintenance and development plans. However, this will be done only in keeping with the original intentions which were to provide a course for all players and to encourage participation in the sport.

Royal Fremantle is not solely about providing a championship venue for professional tournament play to be utilized once a year. The par 72 courses is well maintained with clearly defined Kikuyu fairways that are amongst the best, year-round, in the country. The course also features bent grass greens that are deceptively quick.

Royal Fremantle is a player's course, both challenging and enjoyable. The course can be tamed on a still day, but when the prevailing sea breeze, colloquially called the "Fremantle Doctor" arrives after midday, only the best swings survive. However, when a shot goes astray the penalty is fair and there is always a chance to manufacture a shot from under the trees to get the ball back into play.

Royal Fremantle is the home club of LPGA tour player Minjee Lee, the current number one female golfer in Australia, as well as Craig Parry and two-time winner on the USPGA Tour, multiple Australasian Tour Winner, and Presidents Cup Representative, Greg Chalmers.

The club has a well-appointed golf shop that can provide carts as well as a wide selection of equipment. There is also a driving range, short-game practice area, and putting green for golfers to improve their game. The clubhouse facilities can cater to functions and events, and members can relax with either a meal or drinks in the bar and restaurant.
