Royal Portrush Golf Club is a private golf club with limited visitor access in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. This 36-hole club has two links courses, the Dunluce Links (the championship course) and the Valley Links. The Dunluce Links is considered one of the best layouts in the world and is on the rota of the Open Championship, which Royal Portrush hosted most recently in 2019.
The Links is named after the nearby ruins of the medieval Dunluce Castle which sits on the edge of a basalt outcropping overlooking the sea between Portrush and Portballintrae with the Giant's Causeway and the Skerries to the east.
Royal Portrush's original architect, the famed Harry Colt, produced a breathtaking golfing landscape beside the Atlantic Ocean on the North Coast of Northern Ireland. Located on the North Antrim Causeway Coast, Royal Portrush occupies a triangle of giant sandhills and commands distant views of the hills of Donegal in the Irish Republic, and the island of Islay, 25 miles away in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland.
In order to meet the demands of a modern-day Open Championship venue, significant changes were carried out to the course under the stewardship of golf architect Martin Ebert of Mackenzie and Ebert. Now measuring 7,317-yards with a par of 72 the Dunluce layout presents a stern challenge to any golfer.
The clubhouse offers refreshments and full catering is also available upon request. Golfers will find a Pro shop, driving range, putting and pitching greens, and caddies are also available.
