The Royal Springs Golf Course, previously the Salim Ali National Park, Srinagar, is situated in the diverse and picturesque landscape of the Kashmir Valley. This highly regarded and publicly accessible golf course is also the site of a heritage listed structure named Paree Mahal, which was built by Prince Dara Shikoh, son of Emperor Shah Jahan, during Mughal period.
Commissioned in September 2001 this Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed 18-hole course takes full advantage of the undulating foot spurs of the Zabarwan Mountains that descends onto the shores of the famed Dal Lake. Measuring 6,445-meters Royal Springs presents a par 72 challenge to all levels of players that is open to the public.
Royal Springs is spread over 100-hacteres of rolling hills, natural marsh, native deciduous forest, lakes and wilderness. The lush surroundings are home to a wide variety of bird life that can also be spotted on course. One of the primary features of the layout are the par 4s and par 5s, which have all been designed with "dog legs" and favour players with authoritative control of both their fade and draw shots.
The course offers golfers a Pro shop, driving range, putting greens, short game practice area and a Golf Academy. There are also resort amenities available including accommodation, fitness centre and swimming pool as well as bar and dining options.
