The San Francisco Golf Club is a private athletic and social club in San Francisco, California, with a portion of the club's 18-hole golf course extending into neighboring Daly City. It is one of the most exclusive member's clubs in the United States and in Golf digest's list of America's Top Golf Courses, the club consistently secures a high ranking.
The par 71 courses were originally designed by noted American golf course architect A.W. Tillinghast and San Francisco's signature 7th hole overlooks the site of the final legal duel in California. Currently, the layout, recently restored by Tom Doak, measures 6,828-yards, and majestic Monterey Cypress and pine trees line the fairways along with an abundance of other foliage that both beautifies the course and challenges the golfer.
Players won't have to encounter any water hazards at San Francisco, but numerous, large bunkers along with gentle doglegs and soft elevation changes abound. Unlike many older courses, the layout offers generous fairways to hit off the tee and true, fast-rolling greens. The course is extremely fair and can be enjoyed by every skill level.
Members and their guests will find a Pro shop offering caddie services along with a driving range, chipping area, and a putting green to practice on. Following around the well-appointed clubhouse can provide both bar and dining options in a setting befitting one of the most exclusive private clubs in the United States.
