Golfers looking for a place to unwind and play a fun, easy game of golf within The Villages should check out the 9-hole Sandhill Executive Golf Course, located along Saddlebrook Lane. The par 28 routing is a fair test for players of all skill levels, featuring steadily increasing difficulty and quite a bit of challenge from the back tees. Thus, players must look to score well early on and look to be more conservative later in their round.
Named appropriately, this course has several sand bunkers and golf holes that meander either up or down a hill. The layout’s 1,657-yards length features rolling terrain and elevation changes that will keep golfers on their toes. The elevation changes will keep them guessing about club selection and provides a good test of skill for more experienced players. Many describe the Sandhill Executive Golf Course as a straightforward layout, but one that golfers do well not to underestimate.
Designed by Clifton, Ezell and Clifton, and first opened in 2007, Sandhill is exclusive to residents living at The Villages. Golfers are free to walk the course and pay no green fees, as is the case with all the routings on The Villages Executive Golf Trail. Those who wish to use their own cart may purchase a trail pass annually, semi-annually and on a per round basis. Those who need a warm-up session before teeing-off are welcome to use the driving range where they can practice as much as they want.
