Located in Juno Beach, Florida, the outstanding Seminole Golf Club and its private 18-hole links-style golf course has consistently ranked as one of the finest courses in the United States. Throughout its history, Seminole has long been known as a golf club for the corporate elite and has hosted both kings and presidents throughout its history.
Designed by Donald Ross in 1929, the greens at Seminole are the main line of defense for the par 72 course and many of them are cleverly angled, narrowing towards the back which makes rear pin positions extremely tough. Fairway bunkers along the 6,836-yard layout are generally shallow but sand traps adjacent to the putting surfaces are often deep and troublesome.
Following a period of relative neglect during and after World War II, Dick Wilson was commissioned to restore the course to its former glory. The original Ross greens were re-grassed and new bunkers were installed, which were intended to mimic the crests of waves on the adjacent Atlantic. In 2016, c and Ben Crenshaw were tasked to carry out a three-year renovation of the course, although the extent of the renovations has remained relatively minor and Seminole, along with Pinehurst No.2, are both considered by many to be Donald Ross' two masterpieces.
An equal share of Seminole's majesty is provided by its timeless clubhouse, a pink stucco structure of Spanish American flavor built-in 1929, with its original lockers of California knotty pine still in use. Seminole Golf Club also has an excellent driving range and a caddie service available for its members and their guests.
