The largely private Sentosa Golf Club features the 18-hole Serapong Course, a challenging par 72 championship layout that is one of the top five championship courses in Asia, and home of the Singapore Open. Situated on Sentosa Island this highly regarded course, along with the club's new Tanjong Course, is only a short 25-minute drive from Singapore's CBD.
The Serapong Course, designed by Ronald Fream, opened in 1982 and measures 6,675 metres from the championship tees. In 2006 the Bates Golf Design Group implemented a total renovation of the design and the course now reveals fast and more challenging greens, trademark mounds and contours, new bunker complexes, and mammoth lakes with stone-lined walls, all complementing the breathtaking scenery of the Singapore skyline.
The Serapong Course is all about strategy with bunkering that frames the landing areas on most holes. Greens are also well guarded making for some tucked pin locations on the undulated complexes. The Serapong course's 3rd hole is a standout. At 439-metres, it is the first hole that takes you around the loop of the front nine giving great views of the Singapore harbor.
Sentosa Golf Club, Serapong Course is a cart-only track. However, caddie services are available in advance and are especially useful for visiting golfers. The large clubhouse sports several bars and dining establishments whilst golfers will find a Pro shop, locker rooms, and ample practice facilities.
