Shark's Tooth Golf Club is a private 18-hole course tucked among the oaks and pines of the coastal sanctuary of the Wild Heron community and along the shores of the largest dune lake in Florida, Lake Powell. Only 20-miles from Panama City and virtually next door to Camp Creek and Origins Golf Clubs, the Greg Norman-designed Shark's Tooth layout offers terrific views and challenging play for golfers at every skill level.
Opened in 2002 and located in the Florida Panhandle, the land at Shark's Tooth is gently rolling, unlike the completely flat expanses that characterize the lower half of the state. Shark's Tooth is a challenging par 72 routing that is truly one with nature and was awarded Silver Signature Sanctuary Status by Audubon International for its commitment to environmental excellence.
Norman's layout is sensitive to the delicate nature of the shoreline of Lake Powell here, so there was little excavation involved. The course stretches 7,209-yards from the back tees while drifting in and around the lakeshore with numerous wooden cart path bridges that cross over protected wetlands and uplands. The golfing experience is enlivened by the plentiful native birds and other fauna and the club is quite proud of the recognition it has received for its commitment to low-impact golf.
As well as a Pro shop and plenty of practice facilities for golfers, members and their guests have access to numerous outdoor amenities including tennis courts, the WaterSound Beach Club with private beach access and a fitness centre. There are also several bar and dining options and the club can also cater for events and functions.
