St. Andrews South Golf Club is one of the oldest established clubs in Punta Gorda, and exclusive for just 270 golfers, the St. Andrews South Golf Club is a non-equity, private 18-hole golf course, designed by renowned architect Ronald Garl. Constructed in 1980 and opened a year later, the 6,103-yard layout has four sets of tees and provides challenges for golfers at any skill level. St. Andrews South features a mix of holes with some well protected by strategically placed bunkers whiles others have wider, open greens that experienced players can approach aggressively and beginners will particularly enjoy playing off the shorter tees.
“A private golf club in your own backyard' is how St. Andrews wants to be perceived by its members and for golfers' it has their every need met. From the fully-stocked Pro shop to a wide choice of practice facilities such as a driving range, pitching and putting greens, and a golf academy with teaching pros available, St. Andrews South Golf Club has it all. Players can also ask St. Andrews' helpful staff to rent clubs for their guests as well as carts for their round.
The par 71 layout brags a well-managed clubhouse with access to a fine-dining restaurant, which is open daily for golfers. Members can also request ‘to-go' meals to take with them following a day out on the course. Golf events or any special gatherings can also be held inside the dining room, which is exclusive for members' use only.
St. Andrews South Golf Club offers membership for year-round play, which includes access to all the private facilities inside the club. Golfers can also take advantage of reciprocal membership access to nearby Isles Yacht Club and over 40 other golf clubs partnered with St. Andrews.
In 2004, the layout was damaged by Hurricane Charley but was reconstructed within a year. Following further renovations in 2014, St. Andrews South has won many awards such as the Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce Members' Choice Award, the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce Large Business of the Year Award, and the Readers Choice Awards for Best Golf Course by Florida Weekly Newspaper and Harbor Style magazine.
