Sunrise Golf Club in Sarasota, Florida, once featured a stunning 18-hole semi-private layout with top conditioning available all year round. Characterized by numerous bunkers scattered all around the fairways and greens, this golf course was designed by Roy Albert Anderson who did a good job of creating some amazing, and challenging, fairways.

The course was covered by Bermuda grass but used Tidwarf grass on its greens. Opened back in 1971, this par 72 beauty measures 6,455 yards from its longest tees and provided numerous locations along the course that had picture-perfect views Golfers who have played in this course describe it as user-friendly wherein players of various skill levels get to enjoy this course. More experienced and skilled players could always find ways to test themselves thanks to the different approaches available to each pin.

The club’s focus was more on the bunkers rather than water hazards, with around 40 sand bunkers installed all over the course. Sunrise Golf Club featured no driving range, but the practice facilities included both putting greens and pitching and chipping areas putting. Additional amenities included teaching pros, the banquet hall, and a bar where players could indulge in post-game drinks.

Unfortunately, the Sunrise Golf Club closed in 2005.

Sunrise Golf Club in Sarasota, Florida, is an attractive golf community composed of several hundred existing golf residences, with more on the way. The neighborhood is a mix of detached single-family homes, golf condominiums, apartments, and golf villas. Some of the subdivisions offer private amenities such as swimming pools, tennis courts and other sporting facilities.
The Sunrise golf course closed in 2005 but its green spaces still serve as the backdrop for the neighborhood. The vast area of greenery still dictates the ambiance of the current community with established trees, lush vegetation, and abundant wildlife.
This neighborhood has easy access to everyday necessities like shopping centers, hospitals, and the like, and is just a few minutes away from Venice’s commercial district. Nearby attractions such as Siesta Key, Livingston Amusement Park, and Lakes Park are an added attraction to potential golf property buyers in this area. Golf homes in this neighborhood tend to sell quickly because of the area’s affordable median price and the great community characteristics.
