Tering Bay Golf and Country Club's coastal setting offers beautiful ocean views as its 167-hectare site overlooks the picturesque bay north of Batam. Designed to be both breathtaking and challenging, Tering Bay's 18-holes are laid out amidst rolling hills, lush tropical greenery, and pristine lakes.
Designed by Greg Norman the par 72 courses at Tering Bay opened for play in 1995 and stretches to over 6,400-meters with a choice of four tee boxes. Each hole is unique and provides different challenges, while the land itself is generally hilly, and many holes play through the rainforest. Course conditions vary through the year and greens are kept on the relatively slow side to accommodate golfers of all skill levels.
The Tering Bay layout might appear easy at first, but the Greg Norman design catches many golfers off guard. As with any Norman-designed course, there are plenty of large bunkers, many of which are deep, with fine sand, requiring good approach shots to avoid the traps and create birdie opportunities. Water is also in play on many of Tering Bay's holes creating numerous risk and reward opportunities. Carrying the water hazards can lead to good scores, however, fall short, and penalty strokes can add up fast.
Golf facilities include a Pro Shop and caddie services, a grass driving range, putting green, and a golf academy. Besides golf, full sauna and massage facilities are available, international dishes are served up at the restaurant, and there are several chalets on-site for those wishing to stay at the course. Several other 4-star resorts and excellent local restaurants are in the area just outside the course as well.
