The 18-hole championship golf course at Brisbane Golf Club in the Brisbane suburb of Yeerongpilly is regarded as one of the country's most improved golf courses and is ranked in the top 100 golf courses in Australia according to both Golf Australia and Australian Golf Digest magazines.
The Brisbane Golf Club is a private club originally established at Chelmer in 1896 with only nine holes available for play. Requiring more land, the Club relocated in 1904 and the Yeerongpilly Course was born.
Sydney professional and three-time Australian Open champion, Carnegie Clark, provided the original design of the course at a cost of ten pounds, eleven shillings. Since then this walk or cart layout which currently measures 6,114-metres has been influenced by around a dozen architects, club captains, committees, and professionals including the likes of Alastair McKenzie, Wayne Grady, and currently, Ross Watson.
The par 71 layouts at The Brisbane Golf Club have hosted the Isuzu Queensland Open on a record 21 occasions and are the only golf course in Australia to have 'Champion' greens, a putting surface that is installed on over 700 golf courses in the United States.
The Brisbane Golf Club offers excellent practice facilities that allow players to work on all aspects of their game. They include a 270-meter driving range with a full grass hitting area, a short game facility for chipping and bunker practice, a separate practice putting green, and three spare holes.
The club's heritage-listed clubhouse, which houses the Pro Shop, was recently voted in the Top 25 Clubhouses in Australia and has both bar and dining options. Corporate events and private functions can also be catered to.
