The Oaks Club is a private golf community known for establishing a unique golf culture. Members strive for excellence at the game in addition to simply enjoying the sport. The Oaks Club is home to two 18-hole golf courses: the Heron Course and the Eagle Course.
The Heron Course at The Oaks Club in Osprey, Florida, is a championship golf course well-known for its picturesque views and strategic design. Designed by renowned golf course architect Willard Byrd, it is a testament to the harmonious integration of natural beauty and challenging play. It offers multiple tee options to accommodate golfers of all skill levels.
The Heron is a par 72 shot-makers course that is 6825 yards long. Its slope rating is 134, and its USGA rating is 72.4. The Hurzdan Fry Environmental Golf Course Design and Jason Straka furnished this course in 2015 to keep up with the conditions of its sister, the Eagle course, which is much newer.
This course is much easier to green and relatively shorter than The Oaks Club's other course. The Heron course is easily walkable and enjoyable to play. The fairways are wide open, have a few bunkers, and have short carries-over hazards. The tees available in this course greatly vary, so a player can choose to play it short at 4,185 yards or go the distance at 6,825 yards.
The Oaks Club has world-class practice facilities, including a large putting green where players can work on their longer putts. The driving range, bunker, and pitching/chipping area are all well-maintained and work as expected. The staff of this golf course is also very friendly, including the teaching pros who are available to help the players.
