The golf course was originally built in 1990 with Ted McAnlis at the helm of the design. But in 2015, after raising a $2.5M budget, the course underwent a significant renovation with course architects Mathew Dusenberry, Tad Burnett, and James McKenna shouldering the design responsibilities. This renovation included a state-of-the-art irrigation and drainage system to make sure flooding issues are kept in check even during the wettest seasons. The entire course also underwent a complete re-grassing which gave the routing a major facelift.
Venice Golf and Country Club’s layout stretches to 6,747 yards from its longest tee with a slope of 139 and a USGA rating of 73.2. Men’s and women’s leagues are constantly organized including special categories and club tournaments for both couples and kids. There’s also an expansive practice area for golfers and the clubhouse facilities include tennis and pickleball courts, a wellness center, a swimming pool, and an inviting bar and restaurant to relax in after a day on the fairways.
One thing that makes this golf course different is its unique golf cart rental services. Venice Golf and Country Club have golf cart tracks on the roads so players can drive the carts all the way home. Considering most members are community residents, it makes sense to let them rent carts on a monthly basis, allowing them to park them at home instead of surrendering the cart to the club every time they check out.
