Located a few minutes drives from the Sarasota National Golf Club, Plantation Golf and Country Club, Jacaranda West Country Club, and the Venice Golf and Country Club, the semi-private Venice East Golf Club is one of the best 18-hole beginners' layouts in Florida. With its short fairways and well-maintained greens, all are covered in high-quality Bermuda grass, the par 57 layout is open year-round and the club also offers expansive practice facilities.
In 1961, the Venice East Golf Club was designed by architect Roy Albert Anderson and was built on just 52-acre in the Venice East subdivision. In 1983, a group of dedicated golfers purchased 37-acres of the course and formed the Venice East Golf Association. Along with the course were a small clubhouse with a screened front porch, a small building housing the golf carts, and a driving range along US 41.
In 1994, the Association purchased the remaining 15-acres between the course and US 41 to allow highway access to the driving range. That same year the Pro shop was built, and it has been offering in-demand golf apparel ever since as well as rental carts and clubs.
The Venice East Golf Club offers two types of memberships; a Proprietary Certificate (PC) which is an equity membership, and an Associate membership. Both memberships offer unlimited golf and reduced cart fees along with tee time priority and participation in league and scramble events.

The Venice East Golf Club has two distinct sections for prospective golf homebuyers to choose their next golf property from, such as the attractive Venice East Subdivision. With approximately 842 single-family golf homes, the majority having two to three-bedrooms and the same number of bathrooms, and several residences offering larger four-bedroom floor plans, theirs plenty of options available.
The second section is a much smaller deed-restricted neighborhood called Woodmere Lakes. The neighborhood has fewer golf properties, with approximately 179 golf homes, all of which are situated adjacent to the golf course along Woodmere Park Boulevard.
The pet-friendly and well-maintained 32-acre Woodmere Park is near the community and provides residents with access to two lighted tennis courts, an indoor gym, a shaded playground for kids, horseshoe pits, picnic facilities, and an expansive basketball court.
