The Victoria Golf Club is conveniently located only 30-minutes from the Melbourne CBD and 45-minutes from Melbourne Airport.

Originally founded in 1903 on the initiative of Billy Meader over leased links land at Fisherman's Bend in Port Melbourne the Victoria Golf Club relocated in 1926 to its present 128-acre site in bayside Cheltenham, on the now world-renowned Melbourne sandbelt.

Famed golf course architect Alister MacKenzie was commissioned during his 1926 Australian visit to the neighboring Royal Melbourne Golf Club to add to the unfinished aspects of Billy Meader and Club Captain, Oscar Damon's design. The course officially opened for play on the 14th of May 1927 when the Prime Minister of the day, Stanley Bruce, struck the opening ball in front of a 1000 strong crowd.

Since then the par 72 walk or cart layout at the Victoria Golf Club has been included in the Top 10 Australian and Top 100 internationally ranked courses. As such the course has played host to tournaments such as the Australian Men's Open in 1961, 1981 and 2002, the Australian Women's Open in 1974, 1976 and 2014, as well as the 1999 Australian PGA and the Australian Masters in 2010 and 2011.

Over the years many great players have visited and tested their skills on Victoria Golf Club's exacting course. The champion women's names include Donna Caponi, Pat Bradley, Sandra Haynie, Jan Stephenson, and Honourary VGC member, Karrie Webb.

Meanwhile, the men's names include some of history's greatest players. Walter Hagan, Gene Sarazen, Bobby Locke, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Billy Casper, Gary Player, David Graham, Dave Stockton, Tom Watson, Ray Floyd, Curtis Strange, Greg Norman, and Tiger Woods have all played at the Victoria Golf Club.

Despite its pedigree, the course and practice facilities at Victoria Golf Club can still be accessed by the public. The beautiful clubhouse offers members and visitors truly high-quality amenities as well as on-course accommodation. There is also a pro shop and excellent practice facilities for players.
